Only a couple days away from port in Brazil! wooo! Honestly, call me a
fat kid but I am most excited to get off this ship so I can have some
real food. We are on the pasta and potato diet here, literally carb
overload. We are starting insanity tomorrow on deck at 6:30 am so we
don't gain the infamous "Semester at Sea fifteen".
Since Dominica we have had some pretty fun times while at sea.
Kelli and I attempted to do our laundry in the sink so we wouldn't have
to pay $6 a bag to get it done by the stewards. It didn't go to
well....We have random clothes hanging everywhere in our cabin to
dry..on door handles, on the shower curtain hooks, the bunk bed ladder,
everywhere!
Classes have been good, everyone was really stressed out about the
FDP's for classes though. For each class you must sign up and
participate in two field programs by the end of the voyage or you fail
the class. Unfortunately, SAS didn't think that one through and there
isn't enough space in the FDP's for everyone. Luckily the teachers are
being really flexible, they dislike it as much as we do.
I had a bit of an incident a couple days ago where I forgot to put
sunscreen on my face and ended up rocking a very defined sunglasses tan
line. I got a lot of compliments on it ;) Luckily it has tanned out so
lesson learned on that one.
We entered the Amazon earlier today, I never realized how huge the
river is! In some spots it is fifty miles wide, it's just like being in
the ocean because you can't see land in any direction. About an hour ago
we went out on deck and it was clear that the river had narrowed a lot.
We could make out a couple of tree on the shoreline but it was so dark.
As we were standing there a bunch of bats flew at us which was
terrifying. I almost got rabies to the face, not a good start to Brazil.
Hopefully that will be my last scary encounter with the rainforest
wildlife, but somehow I doubt it. The morning we get into port I am off
on my Amazon Survival Trip, three days and two nights in the rainforest :p
I will update soon! Miss everyone lots <3
Hahaha... the bats probably thought they were attacking a raccoon!! Sounds awesome, cant wait to talk to you! Be careful and remember, you probably dont have enough money to buy a new wardrobe! Start running around that deck girl!
